Men’s Club

Approximately 10 years ago, a group of men within the congregation began meeting.  On the second Saturday of each month, they enjoy breakfast, coffee and fellowship and then tackle maintenance jobs at the church and parsonage.

Some of their most notable projects are:

  • replacement windows installation in the church hall
  • design and installation of the front church steps and railings
  • sidewalk installation
  • electrical upgrades
  • parsonage renovation (in progress)

Men’s Club provides a vital, albeit practical, service to the congregation and helps the church financially by providing free skilled (and sometimes unskilled) labor.  Their efforts are much appreciated!

Social Club

Our Social Club has been meeting in one form or another since the 1940s. It was originally called the Couple’s Club and consisted of married couples from the church who met monthly for dinner and a business meeting. For many years the Couple’s Club organized a Lord’s Acre Auction and sponsored the Sunday School Christmas Party. In the ’70s another group began to emerge called the “Young Adults Club”. Many of the members of this group were the married or single children of the members of the Couple’s Club. As membership in the Couples Club began to wane, the two groups combined resources to become the Social Club.

The current Social Club consists of folks from all age groups – youth, families, individuals, married couples, retirees, etc. Everyone in the church is welcome to participate. The Social Club meets in the church hall at various times of the year for a covered dish dinner, followed by a business meeting to plan events for the church and community. It is a wonderful time of socialization and fellowship.

Each year the group sponsors an annual Christmas Party. At least once a year a fundraiser is planned. For the past three year very successful Giffy’s Chicken BBQ’s have been held on Memorial Day. Our funds are used for various church projects/missions as needed.

Youth Group

This is a great place for meeting friends, going on adventures, and growing our faith. The group serves three Reformed Churches in the Berne, Knox, Westerlo area, though it is currently on hiatus with the pandemic. Each year the group undertakes service projects and during the summer there is a camping/concert experience all under the direction of our adult leaders.
